In February 2018, this case was resolved. The resolution of the case included an apology from Vistaprint and charitable donations will be made to select U.S. and Australian-based organizations that work to create greater understanding and acceptance of the LGBTQ community. On Tuesday, January 16, 2018, Wigdor LLP filed a lawsuit against Vistaprint alleging unlawful discrimination against a gay couple who ordered their wedding programs from Vistaprint and instead received a box of discriminatory, hateful, and anti-gay pamphlets.
The Complaint alleges that Plaintiffs Stephen Heasley and Andrew Borg ordered 100 copies of their custom-designed wedding programs from Vistaprint. Instead, on the eve of their wedding, Mr. Heasley and Mr. Borg were horrified to discover that they had been sent dozens of copies of a hateful, discriminatory pamphlet focused on fighting the temptations of the flesh and resisting the call of Satan. These pamphlets, which were clearly meant to intimidate, harass and threaten the Plaintiffs, caused Mr. Heasley and Mr. Borg tremendous pain and anxiety on the day before their wedding.
The Plaintiffs are represented by David E. Gottlieb and Michael J. Willemin, Partners at Wigdor LLP, and Elizabeth S. Dillon and Brian D. Fishman at Cetrulo LLP.
