Wigdor LLP and Girard Bengali, APC filed a complaint alleging Album and Producer of the Year Grammy Award nominee Leland T. “Metro Boomin” Wayne raped our client, Vanessa LeMaistre. Metro Boomin is considered one of the most prolific rap/hip hop producers; however, he has used his platform to allow disturbing misogynistic behavior to flourish.
Shortly after the death of her 9-month-old son due to a terminal illness, Ms. LeMaistre built a friendship with Wayne who often invited her to his recording studio. During one such visit in 2016, Ms. LeMaistre blacked out and woke up to find herself on a bed being raped by Wayne. She soon discovered she was pregnant, with Wayne being the only possibility of the father.
Known for the soundtrack to the blockbuster “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” and his collaborations with Future, 21 Savage, A$AP Rocky, and other titans in the hip hop community, Metro Boomin has a history of posting misogynistic comments on X that portray a laissez-faire attitude toward sexual assault and drugging women.
In addition to begin truly healing from the trauma that continues to reemerge, Ms. LeMaistre aims to offer a warning that Wayne’s X posts and lyrics that describe drugging and violating women are much more than offhanded comments; in fact, they offer a detailed plan for his behavior toward women and the reprehensible acts he intends to commit.
Statement from attorneys Michael J. Willemin and Monica Hincken (Wigdor LLP), and Omar H. Bengali and Robert J. Girard II (Girard Bengali, APC):
“Metro Boomin has built a successful career with lyrics and social media that are not only offensive but also explicitly outline his intentions to harm women. These are more than mere words, and it’s time for him to be held accountable for his manipulative tactics and unacceptable behavior.”
